Goodbye Sandwich Bags

In the most recent Spring Green Guide published by National Geographic, they had quite a few interesting articles. For those of you that shop at Costco, you can pick up a copy there. Anyways one page was dedicated to the plastic sandwich bag. I never really gave it much thought but it's obviously a petroleum based product. It also doesn't break down easily and is a potential hazard to wildlife.

So I decided today to stop using sandwich bags for my lunch. I've converted to a Ziploc container. Still plastic but it's reusable at least. I should be 100% truthful though, I don't see us cutting out plastic bags completely. It does still serve a purpose for freezing stuff as well as storing goodies for kids. Every little bit makes a difference though.

Great website! For freezing stuff, even for sending stuff in my son's lunches I reuse bread, pasta, cereal bags, etc. Anything that has stored a dry food product is fair game in my book:)
